Make your own Mocktail: MESH Journal Launch

Marcello Giovanelli, Aston University

Andrea Macrae, Oxford Brookes University

Billy Clark, Middlesex University

Join us for the launch of Mesh, the journal for undergraduate work across English studies, available at

Mesh is a new online journal publishing work by undergraduate students which crosses areas of English studies.

Our first issue includes three fantastic and varied student projects:

  • an essay combining biographical New Historicism and literary and publishing history in a study of the nineteenth century writer Rose Blaze de Bury
  • a short film and essay exploring Los Angeles via the city’s poetry and signage
  • a co-authored project describing two short course designs for units of study in A Level Language and Undergraduate English courses, teaching critical stylistic stances on social media and news media.

In keeping with the spirit of the journal and the conference – in bringing lots of things together – the launch will involve making your own mocktail, with fruit juices, fresh fruit and swizzle sticks aplenty. Join us for some refreshment and to find out about and celebrate the launch of Mesh.

This session won’t last the full slot time, so there will be a little breather before the Conference Reception
